Afshar carpets are made by the Afshar tribe who lived in a city named Kermanthe in southeast of Iran. The Afshar tribe lived in the northwest of Iran for quite some time, but a small portion of the tribe moved to the southeastern part, where the carpet-making was a huge branch of business. This lead the tribe to make their own carpets, and over time carpets this tribe became the famous. These carpets are widely-used all over the world now. Afshar carpets are now only made in certain villages in Kerman, so the carpets are considered rare and very valuable. They possess geometrical patterns and the colors used are extremely limited. Most Afshar carpets are dominated by blue and red.
